Pompidou & Club Gibus

Saturday, July 10

Woke up late and had breakfast. Heated up some Ravioli from the can and added chunks of reblochon cheese. It melted in there just nicely, being gooey and stringy when I took a bite of it.

We went out to view the Pompidou. It's a modern art museum in Paris. It was pretty nice, but the first floor of the permanent collection was so depressing and dark. It was filled with a bunch of feminist pieces, which is cool, but it had a bunch of nudity that did NOT express beauty. Rather, there were pieces of self mutilation, expressions that femininity can be putrid as a counter-reaction to objectifying women. And just pieces of multimedia art that was something I'd describe the mind of a mental psychopath to have. Oh the the music/sounds that some of the booths played were all eerie and disturbing...

i loved the way the shadows formed from the weaves

the puzzle...

and I think the solution to the puzzle

reminded me of 2001: A Space Odyssey

3-D postcards, looks like fun

We had some pizza again for dinner. This pizza wasn't as good as last time but nonetheless... yum...

Tonight we went clubbing at Club Gibus (definition: an Opera Hat, collapsible top hat). We went with some awesome Michigan students that moved in this week. 5 of us finished a bottle of vodka prior to save money. Mixed it with tonic and guava(due to the lack of mixers).

Cover charge for male students was 15€, ladies free. But I got a glow-stick necklace because it was a black light night thing. Had a tequila shot in the middle of the night. 4€ for a half shot with no lime or salt. BULLSHIT. Anyways, the club was awesome and so fun. Good music, no drama that I could tell of, minimal harassment. Talked to some French girls and got to practice my French-English with them. I think one of them found it cute, but she was 26 and looked old in the face. Sad what smoking so much will do to you. Fyi: she asked me what my age was first. It definitely was hot in the club though, my entire shirt was drenched and this morning my black tank had white sweat stains on it. I've never had that before...
Shared a taxi home; they charge an extra 3€ ish for a fourth person in the cab... it's stupid. Got home safely and ended an awesome night.

  1. Damn man, partying it up in Paris on a Saturday night. Too bad you aren't in Barcelona right now after the World Cup... it'd be drunk people everywhere!

And that artist forgot that May is the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Just sayin :)
