Making Sushi

Sushi is an art form of a food. It involves a lot of technique, of which I learned on my own from books, videos online, and friends. Meaning that I am not professionally instructed. I love sushi, but learning how to make it informs me if I'm overpaying at the restaurant.

Fun fact: sushi is actually pronounced zushi in Japanese.

First, cook the rice as you normally would. A rice cooker should be fine. The rice should not be burned nor mushy

OKTOBERFEST!!

Friday, October 22

Each Friday to Sunday from the last week of September to October is Oktoberfest! It's celebrated in various areas since, we're nowhere near Germany. I went to the Alpine Village location in Torrance this night and had a great time. It was with Fornia and her friends when they were in the study abroad program in Germany. We got there early around 6 to avoid the long lines later and stayed until 12ish. I took some photos of the night, but it only encompassed the first few hours when I was capable to take clear pictures.

smaller cups for fun all around

Sushi and Philharmonic

So to determine the winner, I went googled random number generator. I went to Random.org tried it out. For the most part, it looked pretty random so I set it up to randomly choose a number between 1 and 9. And the lucky winner is... Liz

Tuesday, September 28

Anyways... this past Tuesday, I was at home and made sushi for the family. I was under a bit of a time constraint, but made way too much (2 plates worth). It took about 2 hours with a little help from my sister. Next time, I'll take more photos and give more effort to present the sushi in a better manner. The most exciting thing for me was that I made spicy tuna for the first time and it was incredibly easy. The recipe I found online just mixed the following: tuna, siracha sauce, scallions, and mayo. That's it!

my parents don't care too much about how food looks. It's like extra credit.

Free Giveaway!!!

Hey Everybody!!

Who likes free stuff? I do.. even when I was still living in an apartment in Westwood, I would always be on the lookout for furniture and miscellaneous items that other people didn't want, whether it be on facebook marketplace or the street. But an easier way to get fill your kitchen to cook a delightful meal for yourself would be to simply buy it. Whether it be kitchen tables, knives, dining ware, or stools. We all need them.

The people at CSN Stores have sponsored this Giveaway. A $40 gift card is up for grabs to their websites such as www.grillgoods.com, www.cookware.com, and www.allmodern.com. It does not include shipping, but some specials offer free shipping. US and Canadian residents are eligible to enter.
All you have to do is simply reply to this post and let me know what you might be interested in buying or would love to purchase if you had no budget limit. Make sure your Google Friend Connect or Blogger account has an email that I can respond to if you're the winner or simply add it in your post. Submissions will no longer be accepted after September 20, 2010. 11:59pm PDT. A random post will be selected as the winner. Odds of winning are contingent to the number of entrants.

Don't worry, this isn't a scam. I have a friend that has worked with them before and everyone has nothing to lose. Good Luck and Happy Shopping!

BTW, I haven't made Spam Musubi for awhile, so I might post a video up. Honestly, it's not that hard.

This is a photo from the VSU banquet I made this for back in May. Got good feedback =)
